Chehni Kothi
The massive tower-like structure in Chehni Kothi, a small settlement, is believed to have been constructed in the 17th century. This is one of the tallest buildings constructed using the regional style of architecture. Chehni Kothi was once a seven-tiered tower before the 1905 earthquake devastated it. The top two towers collapsed, leaving the remaining five towers. It is currently one of Tirthan Valley’s main attractions.
To visit Chehni Kothi, you will drive 3 kilometers from Banjar towards Jibhi. Ask around and watch for the stairs leading to Shringa Rishi Temple. Leave your vehicle on the road, climb up to the temple, and continue on the 3 3-kilometer trail to Chehni Kothi.
Beautiful Waterfalls
Tirthan Valley is home to some of the most beautiful waterfalls in Himachal.
Gaidhar Waterfall is a breathtaking waterfall tucked away in the depths of the forest and is less well-known. Gaidhar Village is the starting point of the waterfall walk. The trek offers beautiful views, but it is sometimes difficult due to its steep sections.
Chhoie Waterfall
One of the simplest and most popular hikes in the valley leads to Chhoie Waterfall, also known as Sai Ropa Waterfall. This stunning waterfall is only a short stroll away, taking between 30-45 minutes. Although the season directly impacts the water level, most visitors to Tirtan Valley hike to the Chhoie.
The Great Himalayan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a haven for avid trekkers. It can be accessed from Tirthan Valley or Sainj Valley. Many endangered species, including snow leopards, musk deer, serows, and cheer pheasants, are protected in the park. Last Village of Tirthan Valley
The charming hamlet of Ghalingcha village is situated in the Tirthan Valley, more precisely, the Falachan Valley. The scenery gets rougher and more isolated from here. Past Ghalingcha, the land is more challenging to access and has become a pure wilderness typical of the Great Himalayan National Park. It is the last town before hikers and explorers enter the national park to embark on more challenging and isolated treks like “Shrikhand Mahadev.”
